And...maybe not. But that's okay!

So in my last post I was so excited and so determined to go into teaching.  This was just yesterday.

Sometimes...things happen.

I have been taking a career decisions class, which I extremely love.  I describe this class as cracking our shells and taking a look at what is inside, the delicious, the scary, and the disgusting.  And it's a good thing.  Scary, but wonderful.  I have learned a ton about myself and I love love love this class.

On this note, I had decided upon becoming a elementary teacher.  I have a passion for helping children and I thought this was a good way.  Until I met with my teacher this afternoon.

My career decisions teacher looked at what my personality is and said that I wouldn't enjoy teaching as much as I think I would.  This is because teachers are told how to teach, what to teach, and aren't given many challenges because of this, and I love to be challenged.  So...he wasn't squashing my dream, just making me aware of what could happen if I went into teaching.

He then went on to suggest because of my personality and love of kids, I should go into counseling for children.  Wow.  A light bulb clicked on when he said that.  I could still help children and change their lives, and I think I would LOVE this career!!!  I don't know how to get that started, but we'll figure that out when I do my research.  :)

He also suggested reading my patriarchal blessing and reading scriptures that I have highlighted, because they have a message for me personally and can show my talents and abilities, and what God wants me to do.

Thank you Prof. Jones, and thank you SUU for providing such a wonderful teacher and class.
